Fabric and Typography DIY Pillow Covers
DIY Pillow Covers
In today’s DIY, we are going to share with you two simple DIY pillow covers video from The Sorry Girls that are not only gorgeous, but also super simple!
The first DIY throw pillow cover is created by simply purchasing a pattern fabric (they have chosen a bright, lemon yellow and white chevron pattern.) to cover a 20 x 20 throw pillow. You can purchase a pillow insert for this or just cover up an old pillow you already have on hand. You can also browse your Goodwill or thrift shops to find inexpensive pillows to use!
They walk you step by step through the process of measuring and cutting the fabric and then with a very simple sow, ta-da! You have a beautiful new throw pillow.
In the second tutorial, they take on the popular typography throw pillows and create a gorgeous “Good vibes only” design pillow using a plain white throw pillow, gold fabric paint as they make their own stencil using a printer, freezer paper and an iron (really cool trick!).
As you watch the video, you can see how excited they are about their new pillows! I believe they even admitted they were addicted. But, really – who doesn’t love updating their room with new pillow flair? This can be done in just a few shorts hours and with minimal investment and the possibilities are endless!
What you will need:
- Sowing machine or needle and thread
- Freezer paper
- Typography design printed on paper
- Exacto knife
- A pillow insert or old throw pillow that you want to repurpose
- A piece of fabric – again you can get really creative here and you don’t have to spend a lot of money! Head to the craft store and look through the discount fabrics. If you are looking for some great looking fabric designs, check out these independent artist design fabrics from Zazzle.
